Settlement for residents of landslide zone in Ingushetia to be finished by end of February

All the building and communication works for commissioning of the cottage settlement of 507 houses in the Malgobek District of Ingushetia for resettled residents of the landslide zones will be over this month and the houses will be turn-key ready, said President Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

On Tuesday, February 2, Evkurov held a meeting on the readiness of the cottage settlement for former residents of the landslide area.

Mr Evkurov emphasized that "residents of the suffered zones should move in and live in the cottages, not to rent them to their relatives, and surely not to sell them," as noted by the "Yuga.Ru" portal.

Earlier, they promised to open cottage settlement in the Malgobek District by February 23.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that construction of the settlement for residents of the landslide zone began in early May of 2009.

In certain districts of Ingushetia, threat of landslides is high. In particular, these processes often become active after long stormy rains. The greatest damage was caused by this nature phenomenon in 2003, when over 180 families lost their homes because of landslides.
