Kadyrov suggests Khloponin to live in Chechnya

President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov has expressed his readiness to render every assistance in solving the problems, which President of Russia put before Alexander Khloponin, who was appointed yesterday, on January 19, to the post of plenipotentiary in the newly-created North-Caucasian Federal District, and even promised to give some housing to him. Meanwhile, people in Chechnya are ambiguous to Mr Khloponin's appointment.

The point is that until recently the republic was full of rumours that this post will be occupied by Ramzan Kadyrov. Among other things, these hopes stemmed from awarding Kadyrov in the end of the last year of the rank of Militia General-Major, and his announcement of Adam Delimkhanov as his would-be successor in the lead of the republic.

"Russian President has charged Khloponin to basically deal with economic problems of the District. He is a former businessman, he knows the banking system; and I'm sure he will help in tuning the economic life of the region," said Kadyrov in his comment on Khloponin's appointment.

One of the observers, who preferred to remain anonymous, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Alexander Khloponin is an absolutely new figure, and it is not for certain that Kadyrov will have same confidential relations with him as with Ustinov (the plenipotentiary in the SFD). "Besides, Kadyrov is hardly happy that now he is deprived of the right to approach Putin and Medvedev directly, but act through the intermediary, that is, through Khloponin," said the source.
