Armenian opposition to offer ways out of economic crisis

Members of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) have reported that they have their own programme of measures for getting out of the economic crisis and promised to publish it in the near future. The Congress has stated that the 2010 budget draft is just a statement of the authorities' blunders and short-sightedness, and a good pretext for resignation.

"The Congress has its own programme of actions on how to get out of the economic crisis. In case of adoption of several dozens laws and decisions, and with display of the respective political will, it will be possible to bring the country back to the road of progress. In the near future, the ANC will present this programme," the Congress members assert.

In the opinion of the opposition, the government has made a "shadowed sequester" of the state budget by means of backdating. According to the ANC's statement, the budget draft presented to the National Assembly ignores the real problems and challenges that the country is facing. Among these problems: reduction of incomes by about 25 percent, serious reductions in the sphere of education (by about 25 percent) and defence (by over 22 percent).
