By "freedom of speech index" Armenia is ranked 111th

The organization "Reporters without Borders" has presented its next regular report with assessment of the freedom of speech in 175 countries of the world. By the "freedom of speech index" Armenia was put in the 111th place.

According to the report, other countries of region - Georgia, Azerbaijan and Russia - were put to the 81st, 146th and 153rd places.

By the "freedom of speech index", the leading five among 175 countries are Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Norway and Sweden. The Great Britain and the USA were ranked the 20th and 21st, accordingly.

The report of the respectful human rights organization the Freedom House on the situation with the freedom of speech in the world masses media, Armenia is No. 151 out of 195 countries.

According to the report, Armenia has seen, from the viewpoint of the freedom of press, like the region as a whole, a sharp regress. Last year Armenia was in the 144th place, this year - seven positions below. Next to Armenia is Singapore, whose press was treated in the report as "not free". Georgia is ranked 131st, Azerbaijan - 171st and Russia - 174th.

The report of the Freedom House specifically notes that Armenia, like Kirghizia and Russia, makes attempts to control the press.
