The "Laura and Medni" studio of design and fashion, the largest in Northern Caucasus, will be opened in the Chechen capital by the end of October. The studio will be engaged in developing clothes for Chechen women with account of national traditions and customs.

"The studio, the largest in the South Federal District (SFD), was founded by sisters Laura and Medni Arzhiev, pupils of the famous Moscow fashion designer, Professor Vyacheslav Zaitsev. The sisters lived and worked in Moscow; and now the have decided to come back home and open a studio in our capital, in order to form the style and fashion for their compatriots," one of workers of the administration of the Chechen capital said.

President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov paid a personal visit to the erected studio and named it "a big step in development of haute couture in the Chechen Republic." "The studio will propagandize the national clothes of Chechen women and it will promote stronger traditions and customs of Chechens, and, certainly, it is a big step in development of the fashion in the region," said the Chechen leader.

Until recently, Chechnya had practically no design and fashion studios. However, in Grozny and other cities and large settlements there are parlours, where lady's wear in Islamic traditions is sewn (long closed dresses with sleeves).
