President of North Osetia hold meeting with heads of Interior Ministry, Federal Security Service, and Public Prosecutor's office

On August 25 President of North Osetia Aleksandr Dzasokhov held a closed meeting with the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Security Service, the Public Prosecutor's office and other law enforcement agencies with the participation of the military units stationed on the territory of the republic.

The press-service of the President of the Republic of North Osetia-Alania reported that the participants of the meeting had discussed the course of investigation actions on the recent terrorist act in Mozdok, the protection of the frontier and republican administrative borders.

The president's press-service also alleged that the meeting had been held as there had been a necessity to urgently study information available about actions of extremist groups in the Northern Caucasian region.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya

    At least 80 residents of Chechnya have been kidnapped after a car with a DUSTUM license plate was set on fire; volunteers have identified the names of a number of them. In the village of Starye Atagi, Urus-Martan District, about 50 members of the Saif-Islam Elmurzaev family, suspected of setting the above car on fire, have been kidnapped; and about 30 people have been kidnapped in the Shali District, the "Memorial" Centre for Human Rights Defence (CHRD)* has reported.
