Volkswagen becomes general partner of Sochi Olympiad

The ceremony of signing the agreement with the Volkswagen Automobile Concern on general partnership with the Olympic and Paralympic Games of 2014 took place at the Investment Forum in Sochi on September 18. The agreement was signed by Dmitri Chernyshenko, President of the Organizing Committee "Sochi-2014" and Dithmar Korcevka, Director General of the Company "Volkswagen Group Rus".

"In the person of the 'Volkswagen Group Rus', the Organizing Committee 'Sochi-2104' has acquired a reliable and experienced partner. We're more and more confident and optimistic that the budget of the Olympiad will be made by almost 80 percent not by taxpayers but by sponsors," said Russian Vice-Premier Dmitri Kozak.

Part of the contribution to be made by the "Volkswagen Group Rus" will be in the form of direct deliveries of cars to ensure transportation in the course of preparation and holding the Games-2014, and servicing and training the personnel. The company will provide about 3000 various vehicles for the Olympiad - models Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda.

The status of the general partner will provide the company with the marketing rights to use the symbols of the 22nd Olympic and the 11th Paralympic Winter Games of 2014, the "Yuga.Ru" Agency reports.
