Venezuela has officially recognized Abkhazia's independence

An official note of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Venezuela about recognition of independence of the Republic of Abkhazia was served to the Abkhazian delegation, which is on its official visit to Venezuela. This was reported today by the press service of the MFA of Abkhazia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 10 President of Venezuela Hugo Chaves, who was on his eighth visit to Moscow, stated, at his talks with his Russian counterpart Dmitri Medvedev, that his country would recognize independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

"Within the next few days, after consultations, the parties will sign an agreement on establishing diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Abkhazia," the "Interfax" quotes the statement of the Abkhazian MFA.
