Armenian government prohibited to go to long vacations

Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sarkisyan has forbidden his government to leave for long summer vacations. The reason of his decision is in deterioration of the country's economic situation because of the global financial crisis.

"The season of vacations begins. Now, high-ranking officials file their vacation applications, and I'm surprised that all of them ask for a month's leave. It looks as if there's nothing extraordinary in the country, as if we've already overcome the economic and financial crisis, and there's no hard work in front. This behaviour is unacceptable," Mr Sarkisyan has stated.

Besides, all the ministers, deputy minister and heads of departments are not recommended to leave the country, as reported by PanARMENIAN.Net. "This summer will be a season of robust work for the government, as indicators go down," the PM has concluded.

At the same time, he has noted that the economic downturn in Armenia was partially caused by the technical recession, since in the first half of 2008 the country saw high rates of economic growth, reports Panorama.am.
