Man who threatened to trigger a grenade detained in Vladikavkaz

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of North Ossetia reports that today a man who threatened to blow up a grenade was detained.

This young man was searched from June 10. In the centre of Vladikavkaz, near the Central Post Office, he threatened to blow up a grenade that he held in hand. Then, he took a fixed-route taxi minivan and forced the driver to go to a big clothing marketplace, where he got lost among the trading pavilions.

The whole marketplace known as "Alan" and a large supermarket located nearby were evacuated.

According to the source, suspect Alan Gazdarov was detained after he took a woman as a hostage in Rostovskaya Street under a threat of grenade and went with her along tram tracks aside the railway station.

"The information was received by the district militia station. A team of law enforcers arrived and grasped the culprit; the woman remained safe and sound," the "Gazeta.Ru" quotes the source as saying.
