Investigation into attack on Argishti Kiviryan is held by Armenian NSS

The criminal case on the attempt on Argishti Kiviryan, coordinator of the Internet edition "Armenia Today", committed at night on May 1, was transferred from the police to the National Security Service (NSS). So far, the official bodies gave no comments on the fact.

According to newspapers "Aravot" and "Armenian Time", the reason of the case transfer is in the fact that when well-known press photographer Gagik Shamshyan arrived to the scene of the crime, just 30 minutes after the attack on Kiviryan, and made photos. These photos show several cartridge shells in the pool of blood, apart from clubs. Meanwhile, the law enforcers fixed no shells in the materials of the case.

Mr Shamshyan's photos were made before the place was examined, while after the examination there were no shells. On May 1, the photographer was summoned to the police for evidencing in the context of his photos.

The attack on Kiviryan was publicly condemned by journalists, politicians, public figures and organizations. Miklos Harasti, OSCE Commissioner on freedom of mass media, has called the authorities of Armenia to immediately hold investigation into the attack on Kiviryan.

Ruben Saakyan, Chairman of Armenian Bar, believes that the attack on Kiviryan is another vivid evidence of the general very hard situation in law enforcement bodies of Armenia.
