Moscow has hosted the solemn opening of Russia's first memorial to the murdered journalist of the "Novaya Gazeta" Anna Politkovskaya. As stated by Anna Stavitskaya, the advocate of Anna's children, the murder is not yet fully solved.

Rally demanding to curb power tariff growth held in Volgograd

About 1000 people took part in Volgograd in a rally against rising electricity rates. Volgograd is irreversibly losing the status of an industrial centre, leaders of the regional council of trade unions assert. The action was held within the World Trade Union Day of Action "For Decent Work".

Georgia: Chela villagers split in their views on restoration of minaret

The Muslims of the village demand to rebuild the dismantled minaret and state a deliberate inciting an inter-religious conflict, "which opens the door to terrorism." 21 persons suffered in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus during the week from September 30 to October 6
