Over 5000 sign demand for resignation of Armenian CRPS
In the period from August 11 to August 18, activists of the civil movement "Arise, Armenia!" gathered over 1500 signatures to the demand for resignation of the members of the Commission for Regulating Public Services (CRPS). Two weeks since the start of the campaign, the total number of signatories made more than 5000.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that as on August 11, the petition for disbanding the CRPS was signed by over 3500 persons. The collection of signatures began on August 5 in Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor and regions of Armenia.
The movement "Arise, Armenia!" was created in June and July 2015 during civil clashes in Yerevan. A group of activists moved their claims against the decision to raise the electricity tariff and stop adoption of constitutional reforms.
Now, members of the movement hold consultations concerning their voiced demands with oppositional forces of Armenia, said Andrias Gukasyan, a member of the board of the civil movement "Arise, Armenia!", adding that a rally of activists is scheduled for August 21.
Let us remind you that on June 17, the Armenian CRPS made a decision to increase the electricity tariff starting August 1, which provoked massive protests.
