Human rights defenders see no sense in appeal to Kadyrov filed by Dudiev's and Donashev's brothers

Brothers of Nazhmudin Dudiev and Ibragim Donashev, who were charged in a case on an attack on Pskov paratroopers in 2000, appealed to the leader of Chechnya with the claim that their relatives were not guilty and asked him to come to the men's defence. Ramzan Kadyrov is not interested in interfering in the situation, note human rights defenders interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in late November 2018, Grozny residents Nazhmudin Dudiev and Ibragim Donashev were detained and taken into custody on the charges of banditry, participation in an armed riot, and an attempt on the life of a soldier during an attack in Chechnya in 2000. The defendants called the investigator's version far-fetched.

Three men recorded a video in which they stated that their brothers Nazhmudin Dudiev and Ibragim Donashev were not involved in the attack on the Pskov paratroopers. The authors of the video asked for help from Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. On February 3, the video was disseminated through WhatsApp by users in Chechnya, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported.

Ramzan Kadyrov will unlikely respond to the appeal, believes Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations. "They appealed to Ramzan Kadyrov exclusively because of his alleged influence in the Russian authorities, in which many people believe. However, the situation is different here: heads of the federal bodies express quite aggressive attitude towards Ramzan Kadyrov. I do not exclude the possibility that he would have gladly helped those brothers, but the question is different, that is, how much power and authority does he have outside Chechnya," Ruslan Kutaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
