On August 20, Volgograd hosted a rally against liquidation of the aluminium factory. The protesters demanded from the authorities of all levels to stop the collapse of local industry, save the Volgograd aluminium factory and prevent its conservation. The authorities in the region expressed their support for the protesters.

As reported today by the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), in the course of the counterterrorist operation (CTO), conducted in the Dagestani city of Buynaksk, power agents killed nine militants.
