Sochi court requests video records from place of detention of Kimaev and Gritsevich

On July 2, the Adler District Court of Sochi began considering the case of disobeying the police in relation to the ecologist Vladimir Kimaev and Anna Gritsevich, a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The court granted the defence's motion to watch the video from the place of detention of the journalist and the ecologist.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Kimaev and Gritsevich were detained in Sochi on June 29, when policemen inspected the territory of the dump in the village of Chereshnya, which appeared after the flooding in Sochi on June 25.

Villagers of Chereshnya state a threat of epidemics because of the garbage dump arranged by the authorities right in the village centre. On June 29, villagers went onto the roadway and blocked the traffic of trucks with garbage. Policemen pushed off the villagers who tried to stop the KamAZ trucks with garbage. The activist of the "EcoWatch" appealed to law enforcement bodies demanding to check the legitimacy of the actions of the authorities.

The case against the ecologist and journalist was returned to the police for elimination of deficiencies, said the lawyer said Alexander Popkov. Earlier, he filed a respective petition to the court office.

He also noted that the court is considering the case against Kimaev, while Gritsevich was questioned as a witness.

According to Popkov, all the witnesses confirm that Kimaev and Gritsevich stood in the middle of the road, when everyone else has gone. According to the police, the detainees allegedly obstructed the passage of trucks.

Earlier, the advocate said that he would move forward the application of Gritsevich about the bodily injuries caused to her at detention and about obstructing her journalistic activities.
