HRC "Memorial": in KBR, wife knows nothing about missing husband for over 20 days

For more than 20 days already, relatives of Khizir Tlepshev, who disappeared in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), know nothing about his whereabouts. His wife fears that he could be detained by power agents and may be tortured, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reports.

Semyon Simonov deprived of fan's passport sues "Sochi- 2014" OC

Semyon Simonov, the coordinator of the network "Migration and Law" of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", has filed a lawsuit to the Adler District Court against the "Sochi-2014" Organizing Committee (OC) demanding to repeal the provision in the rules on issuance of the Olympic fan's passports that admits refusal without explanations.

2013 totals by "Caucasian Knot" for Northern Caucasus: count of victims of armed conflict on decline

In 2013, the total number of victims of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus decreased as compared to 2012 by 239 people, or by 19.5%. The death toll went down from 700 in 2012 to 529 in 2013, i.e., by 24.4%; the number of wounded persons – from 525 to 457 (by 13%). However losses among civilians went up.

Two accomplices of Volgograd suicide bombers detained in Semender, source reports

In North Ossetia, Olympic Torch Relay was held under reinforced security measures

Sochi sets up transport filters to read Olympic automobile accreditations

Chechen resident sentenced to two years on charges of calling for terrorism

Ramzan Abdurakhmanov, a resident of the Urus-Martan District of Chechnya, was found guilty of inciting terrorism and sentenced to two years in prison.
