Column of Volgograd truckers stopped near Moscow
A column of heavy-duty trucks, which planned to enter the Russian capital on December 21, was stopped today on a narrow road near Moscow.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a column of trucks left Volgograd for Moscow on November 29. On November 30, it was stopped at the GIBDD (traffic police) post in the Voronezh Region. Activists stand against the introduction on 15 November of the system to collect money from truck drivers for moving along federal highways.
This morning the column of Volgograd truckers, consisting of 15 vehicles, was stopped at the entrance to the Moscow Region traffic at a GIBDD post. After checking drivers' documents, the column continued its travel.
However, at 11:20 a.m. Moscow time, some two hundred kilometres off Moscow, the column was stopped again by the police, said Alexei Ulyanov, the head of public organization "Public Independent Inspection". He added that he "is receiving provocative phone calls."
According to his story, "the truckers intend to park their vehicles prior to entering Moscow."
