Six residents of Stavropol Territory convicted for recruiting people to IS
The figurants in the case of recruiting people for fighting for the "Islamic State" (IS) have been sentenced today to imprisonment from 5 to 7 years – the guilty verdict was handed down today by the North-Caucasian District Military Court.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the residents of the Stavropol Territory Sultan Yakhyaev, Asad Musaev, Magomed Aliev, Shamil Umakhanov, Mukhamed Shamsutdinov and Rasim Jalalov were accused under the criminal articles of "assisting terrorist activities" and "illegal possession of weapons and ammunition".
According to investigators, the above figurants had set up a criminal grouping in the Stavropol Territory with the aim to recruit through the Internet fighters for the IS (which declared a terrorist organization in Russia, USA, Turkey and several other countries), to participate in the warfare in Syria.
The sentence was handed by the North-Caucasian District Military Court (Rostov-on-Don) by means of video conferencing in the special order, since the defendants fully admitted their guilt and were kept at the time of the trial in one of the SIZOs (pre-trial prisons) of the Stavropol Territory.
Yakhyaev and Musaev were found guilty for "assisting terrorist activities" and "illegal possession of weapons and ammunition". The former was sentenced to 7 years, and the latter – to 6.5 years of high security colony.
Aliev, Umakhanov, Shamsutdinov and Jalalov were sentenced for "assisting terrorist activities" to the terms from 5 to 6 years of general security colony.
