ECtHR awards compensation to widow of murdered Azerbaijani publicist

Authorities of Astara District refuse to sanction Talysh festival
The executive authorities of the Astara District of Azerbaijan did not sanction holding of a folklore festival, which was initiated by the municipal council of the Khamosham village, where ethnic Talysh live. Employees of rehabilitation centre in Azerbaijan arrested in a case on torture
A court placed under arrest five employees of a drug and alcohol addiction treatment centre located in the Absheron District of Azerbaijan after one of the patients died. According to the investigators’ version, the victim was kept by force at the centre and subjected to torture there.

Volgograd activist challenges fine for discrediting Russian Armed Forces
Today, Tamara Grodnikova has filed a complaint to the court of cassation against the first instance court’s decision to fine her 30,000 roubles for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. In her complaint, the activist pointed out that the posters she was holding in her hand during a picket mentioned only the blocking of the media and did not express any opinion about the actions of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine.
