Around 300 players to come to Dominoes World Championship in Abkhazia
About 300 sportsmen from 30 countries, including the strongest teams from Spain, Venezuela, USA, Dominican Republic and Russia, will attend the Dominoes World Championship, which will be held on October 17-21 in Abkhazia. The Abkhaz team will consist of 25 athletes, the youngest being 20 and the oldest - 55 years old.

Protest against changes in gas service caused panic among residents of Makhachkala

38 persons killed within a week in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week from March 28 to April 3 at least 38 persons were lost in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus killing; at least three persons were injured, and one person was kidnapped. A former power agent of the unrecognized Chechen Republic of Ichkeria has been sentenced to five years in prison for kidnapping in 1998 of a resident of the Gudermes District. The convict appealed against the verdict, but the Supreme Court of Chechnya upheld it.

In Ingushetia, head of "Maximum" Agency fears that his organization may be closed by the court

Azerbaijan: consideration of Bakhtiyar Gadjiev's criminal case on the merits to start on April 19
On April 7 and 8, the Nizami District Court of the city of Gandzha held preparatory sessions to the trial of the youth activist Bakhtiyar Gadjiev, accused of evading army service. Judge Amin Akhundov satisfied only one of the many motions of the defence and released Gadjiev from the cage for the hearings. Gadjiev's advocate Alaif Gasanov claims gross violations of the law.

President of Dagestan discusses kidnapping issue with delegation of HRC "Memorial"
