At the Penal Colony No. 7 (known as IK-7) of the Department for the Republic of Mordovia of the Russian Federal Correction Service (FSIN), a group of prisoners, most of them being natives from Northern Caucasus, went on a hunger strike to protest against their custody conditions, as well as they way they are treated by the colony personnel, relatives of the prisoners report. So far, there was no official confirmation of the protest action from the prison administration.

Alexander Goryainov, a soldier of a unit of the internal troops of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), accused of killing his colleague, was sentenced by the Military Court in Chechnya to eight years of imprisonment. The crime was committed in November 2012.

Musa Kadyrov, a football referee, who was suspended for lifetime from refereeing after his fight with a football player, was fined 500,000 roubles by the decision of the Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU). For participating in the incident, Ilya Krichmar, a football player of the "Amkar" FC, was disqualified for four matches of youth championship and fined 15,000 roubles.

Today, the Prosecutor's Office asked the court to sentence Yusup Temerkhanov, a native of Chechnya, accused of the murder of ex-Colonel Yuri Budanov, to 16 years of imprisonment to be served in a penal colony of high security, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The Moscow City Court sentenced Bekhkan Rizvanov accused of attempted murder during the fight at the Shopping Centre (SC) "Evropeysky" (European) in Moscow, to eight years of imprisonment in a penal colony of high security.

In Chechnya, investigation into the deaths of two soldiers of the Russian military unit of the Russian Ministry of Defence, who on April 28 blew up an unidentified explosive device in the south of the Republic. Both victims were contract soldiers who had come to serve in Chechnya from other regions of Russia, the Commandant's Office reports.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev, a suspected initiator of the terror act in Boston, came to the attention of Russian power agencies in early 2011 in connection with the detention in Dagestan of Canadian citizen William Plotnikov, and in 2012, when Tamerlan Tsarnaev was seen together with Makhmud Nidal, an alleged agent of the armed underground. This was stated by a source at the Dagestan's Centre for Combating Extremism.

Johar Tsarnaev, a suspect of committing the terror act in Boston, was read a statement of his rights; after which he ceased testifying. His defence will be headed by the lawyer Miriam Conrad, who earlier defended in court the Briton, who had tried to blow up a Paris-Miami aircraft. According to sources from US authorities, the bombs in Boston could be triggered remotely, while Tsarnaev brothers had planned a terror act in New York.
