Employees of the "Southern Plants" Park in Sochi, who on May 22 went on hunger strike, demanding payment of wage arrears, stopped their protest action after the meeting with the city authorities and the deputies. On May 23, in Moscow, representatives of the worldwide movement for human rights "Amnesty International" (AI) presented the report "Human Rights in Modern World", containing information about the situation with human rights in 2011 in 155 countries. The Russian version of the report provides information on 50 countries. The Russian part is largely devoted to the republics of Northern Caucasus, where the human rights defenders characterize the situation as unstable and uneven.

Valery Kopchuk, Lieutenant of Justice, who was detained within the criminal investigation into the criminal case on death of a woman in a road traffic accident in the Stavropol Territory, was dismissed from the structures of internal affairs. This was announced by the Investigatory Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Russian Federation. The MIA considers intolerable the fact that a car with the law enforcement agent had disappeared from the place of the road traffic accident and that no assistance had been rendered to the victim. Meanwhile, the driver has not yet been identified.

The opposition activists report on detentions of their supporters at their apartments and in front of the PTV building. The PTV's leaders reject the criticism of the opposition.

The Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation (known as FSIN) found no grounds for escorting Aslan Cherkesov, a native of Nalchik, to Kabardino-Balkaria to serve his sentence there. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Azret Cherkesov, the brother of Aslan Cherkesov, convicted for the murder of Yegor Sviridov, a football fan.

Today, Makhachkala hosted a rally, which participants demanded to investigate the murder of Gamzatov brothers and their nephew Magomed Omarov, who were shot dead on March 18 in Kizlyar. In total, the protest action was attended by about 600 persons: residents of Kizlyar, Makhachkala, the Kizlyar and the Tsumadin Districts, and natives of the Tsumadin Districts residing in Astrakhan.
