Gachechiladze: spring and summer protest actions of Georgian opposition had been planned by Saakashvili
The broadly covered rallies of the opposition held during spring and summer in Georgia, had been pre-planned well in advance by the government of the republic with the aim to "let off steam" of negative energy of the population and show everybody that the opposition is impotent. This is the opinion of Georgiy Gachechiladze, leader of the Party of "Greens" of Georgia.

Oreshkin: statements on recognition of independence of Chechnya and Ingushetia will be made in future
In the opinion of the political scientist Dmitri Oreshkin, the statement, disseminated just a couple of hours ago that "the Confederation of Nations of the Caucasus has recognized independence of Chechnya and Ingushetia," will not be the last of this sort in the course of the events taking place now in Northern Caucasus.

Sakharov's Prize awarded to three "Memorial" human rights advocates for "freedom of thought"
Russian human rights activists Liudmila Alekseeva, Sergey Kovalyov and Oleg Orlov, representing the Human Rights Society "Memorial", were awarded by the European Parliament the prize named after Andrei Sakharov for the "freedom of thought". This news was announced by Jerzy Buzek, Chairman of the European Parliament, at today's session in Strasbourg.

Novorossisk court denies MUE director's claim against NCHR
The result of today's session on the claim lodged by Sergey Novikov, director of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Information-Analytical Centre" (MUE "IAC"), against the Novorossisk Committee on Human Rights (NCHR) on defence of his honour, dignity and business reputation was refusal of the court to consider the case because of clarification of circumstances and Mr Novikov's confession about his deal with the local prosecutor's office. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Vadim Karastelyov, an expert of the NCHR.

Kadyrov: four suicide bombers liquidated in special operation, a militiaman was lost
Four militants-suicide bombers who "planned to commit a series of terror acts by blowing themselves up" were killed today during a special operation in the Oktiabrskiy District of Grozny, as reported by President Ramzan Kadyrov. His Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports that one militiaman was lost.

Dagestan STSI inspector charged of murdering his prosecution colleague
Seifula Isaev, senior inspector of special battalion of the Road Sentry Service (STSI), has faced charges of murdering Gamzat Musaev, senior inspector of the Khasavyurt Inter-District Investigatory Division of the Investigatory Department for Dagestan of the ICPO (Investigatory Committee of the Prosecutor's Office) of the Russian Federation, and of exceeding his service duties.

Radio Liberty starts broadcasting for Abkhazia
The Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe opens its new project. From November 2 on, every evening frequencies 9525 and 9780 will broadcast an information-analytical programme in the Russian language "Echo of the Caucasus". It is a new Russian-language analytical programme aimed at the audience in South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Krasnodar ecologists send complaint to Adler court
Today, activists of the Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus have lodged their complaint to the District Court of Adler challenging the administrative sanctions imposed on them. An inmate murdered in a Chechen colony
The Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya has conducted a check on the fact of detection of a body of a convict with traces of murder in the territory of the colony-settlement (UKP) of the Corrective Establishment No. 2 of the Russian Correction Service (known as "UFSIN") for Chechnya, located in the city of Argun.

The “Caucasian Knot" publishes the agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which was initialed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 8, 2025, through the mediation of US President Donald Trump. The meeting of Trump, Aliyev and Pashinyan took place on August 8 in Washington. Following the meeting, Pashinyan and Aliyev also signed a joint declaration.
