A churchman fired upon in Dagestan, his daughter got wounded

An attempt at deputy imam of the local mosque was committed in the settlement of Sultanyangi-Yurt, Kizilyurt district of Dagestan, his fourteen-year-old daughter got wounded. 

District Department of Interior Affairs of Kizilyurt reported that the churchman was going back home at about midnight. "Two gunmen waiting for him near his house opened fire at him. His fourteen-year-old daughter who ran out of the house hearing the sound of shooting was wounded by one of the bullets. The churchman himself was not injured", the source said. 

According to him, the identity of the attackers has already been established. "They are active participants of the gangsters' underground, Wahhabites who are in search for committing terror-related crimes", "Gazeta.ru" quotes an official of law enforcement bodies. 

Measures for detention of the criminals are being taken, "Interfax" reports.

  • Dagestan: villagers demand their abducted relative back

    The participants in the gathering held in the Levashin District have demanded to return the girl abducted by a young man back to her family and complained about inaction of law enforcement bodies. In their turn, the Dagestani police have objected that the adult girl had voluntarily, but against her family's will, left with her groom and entered into an Islamic marriage with him.
