Stavropol Territory: Pagan Slavs claim violation of their rights

Power specialists switch off 598 consumers in Chechnya for their debts
On August 26-27, in the Argun District of Chechnya, 598 customers, who had huge debts for electricity bills, were cut off the grid. Their total debt amounted to more than 5 million roubles, said the spokesman of the Ministry of Housing and Utilities of Chechnya. Locals treat such measures as "excessive."

In Krasnodar, hunger-strikers claim indifference of law enforcers
Three residents of the Krasnodar Territory spend the second day on a hunger strike in an attempt to draw attention of the law enforcement bodies to their problems. One of the protestors complained about unjustified prosecution of her son, and two other hunger-strikers complained of fraud, as a result of which their son lost his housing.

KChR's Government resigns
Today, Rashid Temrezov, the leader of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), has granted the resignation request filed by Murat Kardanov, the Prime Minister of the KChR; Ruslan Kazanokov, the head of the Federal Tax Service Department for the KChR, was appointed the Acting Prime Minister.

Zubarevich: Chechnya unable to pay electricity and gas debts
Chechnya has asked the Kremlin to write off its 16.23-billion rouble debt for electricity and gas, which accrued for the period from 1999 to 2009, when the republic was under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. There is no response from Moscow yet. Natalia Zubarevich, an Associate Professor at the Supreme School of Economics, believes that the absence of republic's budgetary income growth is the reason for the above request.
