Dagestan: avalanche cuts 16,000 people from outside world

A snow avalanche has forced to close the Tlyarata-Makhachkala Highway, leaving 55 dwelling settlements without automobile communication.

Information about the incident was received by the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) on January 8 at 10:30 p.m.: the avalanche went down in the Tlyarata District of Dagestan. "Road traffic is stopped, there is no bypass road," said the Chief Department for Dagestan of the MfE.

The website of the MfE reports that, according to preliminary data, there are no victims.
