Refugees hold another protest action in Georgia

In Tbilisi, in front of the Ministry for Refugees' Matters, forced resettlers have held an action with a demand to suspense the eviction process.

The protesters gave their evaluation to the statements made by President of Georgia on January 25. According to Lasha Chkhartishvili, a member of the Conservative Party, and Aleko Shalamberidze, one of the leaders of the "People's Party", President's words about refugees' fate and provision of housing area and jobs to them are absolute lies; while reality is that refugees are evicted from their residences every day and left to the mercy of fate.

The "Georgia Online" reports that the next refugees' action is planned on 2 p.m. on January 28 in front of the parliament.

Also on January 26, 80 families of Georgian refugees addressed the Embassy of Germany for political asylum. "We spoke to an Embassy employee, who promised that our petition would be considered and in a week we'd receive an answer," said Irakli Tsikoliya, co-chairman of the Civil Movement of Refugees.

On January 27, the forced evictees plan to address the Embassy of France with a similar application, the "News-Georgia" reports.
