The court has returned to the prosecutor's office a criminal case against three natives of Chechnya accused of beating staff members of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) in the area of the Vnukovo village in Moscow. The criminal case has been returned for elimination of shortcomings. The pre-trial restriction measure against the defendants has been abolished, since, according to the court, there are no grounds for it.

The defence of Zhalaudi Geriev, a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, accused of drug trafficking, filed a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). Zhalaudi Geriev says that the charge has been fabricated. Earlier, human rights organizations have recognized him as a political prisoner.

Today, the court ruling of May 24 has come into force, according to which the Russia's Ministry of Finance (MoF) has to pay 100,000 roubles to Klara and Valentin Donchi-Ool, a pensioners' family couple from Sochi, in compensation for moral harm suffered from a criminal case unlawfully opened against them. The amount awarded by the court is ten times smaller than the spouses had claimed in their lawsuit; however, they will not challenge the ruling.
