On February 13, the Dzerzhinsky District Court of Volgograd sentenced Alexander Savelyev, Chief of the Operational Service Division of the Department of the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation (UFSKN) in the Volgograd Region, to 9 years of imprisonment in high security colony for sale of narcotics.

The office of the Ombudsman received 20 complaints from defendants, kept in the SIZO (pre-trial prison) No. 1 of the city of Cherkessk. The defendants reported that they were beaten by staff members of the SIZO. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Oleg Dzamykhov, Senior Consultant to the Ombudsman, at present, investigation into the incident in conducted by the Investigatory Committee of Karachay-Cherkessia.

The information that the monk Father Iona, the Georgian priest of the temple Sameba (Holy Trinity), was released as a result of activities of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Abkhazia does not correspond to reality. This was stated by Laurens Kogoniya, the head of the Interior Division of the Gali District of Abkhazia, located near the border with Georgia.
