Kadyrov suggests Khloponin to live in Chechnya
President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov has expressed his readiness to render every assistance in solving the problems, which President of Russia put before Alexander Khloponin, who was appointed yesterday, on January 19, to the post of plenipotentiary in the newly-created North-Caucasian Federal District, and even promised to give some housing to him. Meanwhile, people in Chechnya are ambiguous to Mr Khloponin's appointment.

Armenia: journalist Pashinyan's case to go to ECtHR
Advocates of Nikol Pashinyan, imprisoned activist of the opposition, a well-known journalist and editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Aikakan Zhamanak" (Armenian Time), who was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment, plan to appeal against the verdict to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). This was reported by Lusine Saakyan, one of the advocates.

AAE: Grant Dink, who wrote about Armenians' genocide, died for democracy
The murder of Grant Dink was not occasional: he died for defending democracy, and he had been sued repeatedly for breaching Article 301 of the Criminal Code of Turkey, which forbids mentioning the genocide of Armenians in 1915-1922. In Armenia, oppositional editor sentenced to 7 years in prison

Residents of Ingushetia were not informed about gas main accident
So far, the accident at the gas main in Ingushetia was not recognized to be a terror act; but if it will be, the result may be in growth of mistrust to the authorities, since the population is already criticizing the republic's leadership. Chechnya: militia detains refugee returning from Austria
The MIA of Chechnya has disseminated the information that on January 16, in the high-mountainous Vedeno District, as a result of a special operation, a man of 32 was detained, who on the eve returned from Austria, where until recently he lived as a refugee. The detainee is accused of taking part in separatists' armed formations in 2001. Local human rights activists assert that the actions of power agents are illegal.
