Film about kidnappings and torture in Chechnya screened at festival in Switzerland

The documentary "Barzakh" by the Lithuanian film director Mantas Kvedaravichyus picturing the facts of torture and abductions in Chechnya was presented at the festival of documentaries named Vision du Reel, held in the Swiss city of Nyon.

The festival lasted for a week and ended on April 17 with manifestation of "Barzakh". According to Mr Kvedaravichyus, the film aroused great interest among the public: there were no vacant seats in the hall.

After the film many viewers said that it was real discovery for them, since before they had had no idea that such things could happen in the Chechen Republic.

"They know that there's no more war there as such; however, they don't know about the current developments there," film director Mantas Kvedaravichyus told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The documentary "Barzakh" was also recently screened at documentary festivals in Lithuania and Spain, and in mid-May it will take part at the major festival of documentary films Planet Doc in Poland.
