Residents of Novogrozny report detention of suspected author of video on house demolition

Film director from Nalchik gets third prize for his film "Closeness"

In Congo, rebels report details of Georgian pilot's death

Lightning strikes the plane en route from Istanbul to Tbilisi

40 people come to picket "Shame to Rosgvardia!" in Rostov-on-Don (+video)
A picket in defence of those detained during anti-corruption actions on March 26 and June 12 in Russia was held today in Rostov-on-Don. Apart from protesting against the actions of OMON (riot police) fighters, picketers in Rostov-on-Don demanded to release the politician Alexei Navalny, who is now serving his administrative arrest in one of Moscow special detention centres.

SIZO bosses prohibit Afghan Mukhtarly from meeting opposition activists
The family of Afghan Mukhtarly has issued a proxy to Samir Asadli and Masud Asker, activists of the "Nida" movement, to visit Afghan at the SIZO (pre-trial prison). However, as the activists said, SIZO bosses rejected the visit, stating that the investigator should issue a permit.

Residents of Nalchik oppose erection of monument to Kalmykov
40 people in Nalchik went out to a rally against the installation in the city of a monument to Betal Kalmykov, the first secretary of the regional committee of the VKP(b) (All-Russian Bolshevik Communist Party). They demanded not to return the monument to the pedestal after restoration, and offered to exclude it from the register of cultural heritage objects.
