Power agents got mixed up in their versions about armed skirmish in Shali
The armed clashes that broke out on January 30 in the Chechen town of Shali and led to casualties was either a pre-planned militants’ attack, or an occasional accident, due to which power agents had thwarted crimes of the supporters of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia. The divergence of versions has caused both controversies in power agents’ statements and local residents’ stories.

Member of "tractor march" suspected of fraud
The Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has opened a case on a fraud with a land plot lease against Nikolai Borodin, a participant of the “tractor march” of farmers from the Krasnodar Territory, and Elena Petrova, the wife of another protester. Borodin suggests that they are prosecuted for their participation in the protest movement.

Pogosyan stops hunger strike in Yerevan jail
Last night, the health condition of Nerses Pogosyan, arrested in Yerevan on suspicion of having links with Zhirair Sefilyan, sharply aggravated; and he stopped the protest hunger strike. Prison doctors assessed his condition as satisfactory.

"Rosbalt" reports names of people detained on charge of plotting assassination of Ramzan Kadyrov
In the case of planned assassination of the leader of the Chechen Republic in the spring of 2016, the investigators' versions is based on the testimonies of Shamkhan Magomadov, Beslan Zakaraev, and Aziz Alviev, detained in May 2016 after an attack on a checkpoint in the Grozny District. Law enforcers report on prevention of killings of policemen in northern Chechnya

Officials refuse to pay rent to residents of dilapidated houses in Derbent
On February 1, the Derbent residents, who are protesting against resettlement, met Ibragim Kazibekov, the Minister of Construction and Housing of Dagestan, and Ali Khazbulatov, the permanent representative of the head of the republic in Southern Dagestan.
