Buyers of alcoholic drinks searched again, residents of Grozny report

In Grozny, law enforcers have resumed searching buyers of alcoholic drinks at exit from a single hypermarket, which legally sells alcohol beverages. An earlier break in searches can be explained by a conflict between the local and federal law enforcement bodies, local residents report.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2017, sale of alcoholic beverages in Grozny stores was restricted. After that, law enforcers began detaining local buyers of alcoholic drinks at exit from a store.

In early March, local law enforcers tried to detain officers of a federal law enforcement body detached to Chechnya, who bought alcoholic drinks at a Grozny store. There was a fight, and on the day after the incident, the control over buyers of alcoholic drinks was lifted, the "Kavkaz.Realii" reported on March 22.

According to Suleiman, on March 25, he and his friend bought food at a grocery store and at the exit, they were again requested to produce their plastic bags for inspection. "They have not appeared here for several weeks, after a fight with federal law enforcers. And now they again appear and detain local residents if they are buying vodka or something like that," said Suleiman.

The man has specified that soldiers, officers and guests from other regions also but alcoholic drinks at the store. However, according to him, the control is introduced "exclusively for local residents."
