“Rospotrebnadzor” strengthens radiation monitoring in Dagestan
In connection with the data on the radiation leak in Iran, the round-the-clock monitoring of the radiation situation is conducted in the southern part of Dagestan.
On June 13, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the start of the “Rising Lion” operation, directed against the Iranian nuclear programme. The strikes were aimed at Iranian nuclear and military facilities located in different country’s regions. In response to the Israeli strikes, Iran has launched its “True Promise-3” operation, inflicting strikes on military targets in Israel. On June 14, the standoff continued, with the parties exchanging missile strikes.
Anna Popova, Russia’s Chief State Sanitary Doctor, has ordered to conduct round-the-clock monitoring of the radioactive situation in the southern part of Dagestan; it was reported on June 14 in the Telegram channel of the Dagestani Branch of the “Rospotrebnadzor” (Russian Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare).
Monitoring is conducted every two hours; it is connected with the data on the accident at the uranium enrichment centre located in the city of Natanz in Iran; the monitoring is conducted in coordination with the Saint Petersburg Research Institute of Radiation Hygiene named after Professor P. V. Ramzaev.
The above Branch notes that during the monitoring that was conducted in Derbent, it turned out that the radiation situation in the republic remains stable; no excess of the natural gamma background of the area, typical for this territory, was detected.
