Dagestani journalists consider Muftiate's public apology statement as a call for peace

The statement about the public apology practice voiced by the Deputy Mufti of Dagestan does not mean an approval of the practice and a call for self-censorship. The religious leaders only urge not to create conflicts with thoughtless phrases, the heads of the Dagestani media suggest.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that when commenting on the practice of public apologies that spread in the republic after Chechnya, Dagestani Deputy Mufti Abdulla Salimov said that people should avoid posting rash claims in social networks, since such claims could lead to public apologies. The religious leaders started to comment on the topic amid the resonant apologies of teenagers to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Khadjimurad Sagitov, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Novoye Delo", treats the statement voiced by the Deputy Mufti of Dagestan as a call for reconciliation and restraint. The journalist suggests that the public apologies initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan find support in society.

Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft), believes that the religious leaders cannot approve the practice of public forced apologies, since it is humiliating for a person.

According to Magomed Magomedov, some members of the Dagestani society express their sympathy to the Chechen practice of public apologies.

Magomed Bisavaliev, the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Dagestan", Dagestan is a relatively free island in Northern Caucasus, and no such practice of public apologies is likely to spread here.
