On March 18, Lechi Mitkuev, a resident of mountain Dargo village, Vedeno District of Chechnya, was kidnapped by unidentified power agents. Local residents believe that the victim is kept in the base of one of subdivisions of local power agencies deployed in the neighbouring Nozhay-Yurt District.

The information about kidnapping of the resident of the Grozny District of Chechnya, who had earlier worked as inspector, was not confirmed. It was found out that the incident was staged (feigned) with the aim to conceal a woman's murder.

Yesterday, on March 16, in the Kurchaloy District of the Chechen Republic, a contracted soldier from the engineering-sapper subdivision of the Internal Troops of Russian MIA was lost. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about the incident by the Republic's Military Commandant's Office.

On March 10, experts of the Inter-Regional Committee against Torture sent a complaint to the European Court on Human Rights in Strasbourg on violation of the right to life of Raisa Kosumova, a native of Chechnya, who perished in 2003 as a result of a mortar attack. The complaint was filed on behalf of the casualty's mother.
