Kidnapped resident of Chechnya found dead

The law enforcement bodies of Chechnya report that near the Roshni-Chu village, Urus-Martan District, the body of earlier kidnapped local resident was found.

Earlier, two local jobless residents lodged an application about the kidnapping to the militia. "They reported that 7 kilometres off the above village, in a large forest, five unknown persons, by threatening with automatic firearms them and their friend, a local resident, who was hunting there, disarmed them and took their friend away in an unknown direction," a source in law enforcement bodies said to the "Interfax".

In the place of the incident, in the course of operative-search actions, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) found a man's body with two gunshot wounds in his head. Now the search of the culprits is underway, as the "Lenta.ru" reports.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya

    At least 80 residents of Chechnya have been kidnapped after a car with a DUSTUM license plate was set on fire; volunteers have identified the names of a number of them. In the village of Starye Atagi, Urus-Martan District, about 50 members of the Saif-Islam Elmurzaev family, suspected of setting the above car on fire, have been kidnapped; and about 30 people have been kidnapped in the Shali District, the "Memorial" Centre for Human Rights Defence (CHRD)* has reported.
