According to preliminary results of the 2010 census, the average annual birth rate in Chechnya is about 32,000 newborns against the mortality rate of about 6200, with the migration loss of about 2000, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Ramzan Digaev, head of the Territorial Department of the Russian Federal State Statistics ("Rosstat") for the Chechen Republic.

Major Magomed Taisumov, former deputy commander of the special-purpose battalion of the GRU "Vostok" (East), who was kidnapped in the evening of March 28 in the Gudermes district of Chechnya and later found murdered, was not tortured before his death, but was shot dead. Also, there are no credible evidences of involvement of Magomed Khambiev, a Chechen MP and a former defence minister of Ichkeria, a source from the law enforcement bodies of Chechnya asserts.

The Court of the Astrakhan Region has passed a verdict of guilty to residents of Chechnya Aina Sidgalieva and Bekmagomed Saigatov, detained in Astrakhan in November 2009. They were accused of an attempt on MIA employees and sentenced to 12 and 13 years in prison accordingly.

The Lithuanian mass media have released documents from the case of Egle Kusaite, who had been allegedly recruited by Apti and Aishat Magmadov, natives of Chechnya living in Russia, for committing a terror acts in Russia. According to the documents, the Lithuanian State Security Service (VSD) was the first to appeal to the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB) with a request for cooperation on this case. Arvidas Anushauskas, chairman of the Seym Committee for National Security and Defence (NSDC) argues that he knows nothing about cooperation of the Lithuanian and Russian intelligence services.

On March 29, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) ruled on the case "Esmukhambetov et al versus Russia" (Application No. 23445/03) that Russia is responsible for human deaths during the military operation in Chechnya in 1999.
