The Supreme Court of North Ossetia has sentenced Kharun Yunusov, accused of kidnappings for ransom, to 15 years in a high security colony; however, given the fact that under the 2004 verdict of the Supreme Court of the Chechen Republic he had served 6 years in prison, his remaining term is 9 years.

A new session of the Moscow City Court on the criminal case of slander initiated against Oleg Orlov, Head of "Memorial" Human Rights Center in connection with his statement about the responsibility of Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov for the murder of member of HRC "Memorial" Natalia Estemirova passed off on April, 28. Today, the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov answered - by means of the video conference - the questions of the magistrate court of the Khamovniki District of Moscow and stated that the words of the head of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" Oleg Orlov about of his guilt in the murder of rights defender Estemirova had tarnished his honour and dignity. Kadyrov said that he wanted to have Orlov criminally prosecuted.

Investigators have completed their inquiry into the killing of Yegor Sviridov, a fan of the "Spartak" Football Club, which was committed at night on December 6 in Moscow. The City Court of Temirtau, Karaganda Region of Kazakhstan, has sentenced four men to various terms of imprisonment for propaganda of terrorism and inciting religious hatred, because they had discussed the lectures and watched video appeals of Said Buryatskiy, militants' ideologist, who was later liquidated in Ingushetia, and Dokku Umarov, leader of the so-called "Imarat Kavkaz".

On April, 25, a group of Chechens consisting of 24 people, little children among them, was delivered to Grozny by bus from Poland. Until recently they had resided in that country. Residents of the republic who left for the countries of Europe in different periods are now returning to their motherland because they failed to get settled abroad, a representative of Federal Migration Service told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
