A native of Chechnya, Said-Mukhamad Djumaev, convicted of beating up law enforcers at a protest rally, has one year and four months left to serve in custody, a source close to his family has informed.

It is impossible to verify the number of participants in the rally in support of Putin held in Grozny, but those who attended came under duress, experts on the Caucasus have noted.

Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, a native of Chechnya, convicted of beating law enforcers at a protest action, has been transferred to a unified cell-type room, the “OVD-Info”* human rights project reports on its Telegram channel.

In Grozny, about 150,000 people took part in a march in support of Vladimir Putin’s candidacy in the upcoming presidential election, the authorities of Chechnya announce.

The appellate instance may review Nikita Zhuravel's sentence if it is confirmed that he had burned down not the Koran, but a translation of Koran's ideas; however, if he had intentionally insulted believers' feelings, no verdict is likely, experts have pointed out.
