Relatives of Chechen Djumaev refuse to challenge toughening of his conditions in colony

A native of Chechnya, Said-Mukhamad Djumaev, convicted of beating up law enforcers at a protest rally, has one year and four months left to serve in custody, a source close to his family has informed. According to his story, relatives would not appeal against his transfer to a single cell-type facility or seek conditional early relief (CER), since they are sure that this is futile.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 31, 2023, it became known that Djumaev had been placed into the dungeon (punishment cell). In February of the same year, he was again placed there. After this, the disciplinary commission ruled to transfer Djumaev to strict conditions of detention, which excludes any possibility of CER.

He had no chance of CER before, as he was perceived as "political," a source close to Djumaev's family has informed.

Let us remind you that the court found Djumaev guilty of the fact that on January 23, 2021, he entered into a confrontation with law enforcers at a rally in support of Alexei Navalny. According to the prosecution, Djumaev inflicted numerous blows on two OMON (riot police) fighters and a policeman.
