Russia welcomes the conclusion of the international commission for investigating the conflict in Georgia that Tbilisi unleashed the war last August in South Ossetia, Natalia Timakova, press secretary of Russian President, said today. Georgia is happy that the report states that the war in South Ossetia began not on August 7, but earlier, said Timur Yakobashvili, State Minister of Georgia on Reintegration.

Today, the Supreme Court of Dagestan has acquitted Mukhtar Agaev, an officer of the Dagestan Department of the Russian Federal Service for Drug Trafficking Control (RFSDTC), accused of organising an illegal armed formation (IAF) and attempt on Deputy of the National Assembly of Dagestan Shamol Isaev, on all indictment points. Agaev was set free in the courtroom and provided with the right for rehabilitation.

Today, at about 4 p.m., Gamzat Musaev, senior inspector of the Khasavyurt Prosecutor's Office, was assassinated. Eyewitnesses of the tragedy assert that he was shot dead by the employees of the STSI (State Traffic Safety Inspectorate), who were on duty at the entrance post to Makhachkala.

On September 29, in Baku, a preparatory session was held on the suit lodged by the widow of the perished head of the Talush Cultural Centre and editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Tolyshi Sado" (Voice of Talysh) Novruzali Mamedov against the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice, the Penitentiary Service and its medical establishment, and also against Colony No. 15. In its turn, the Nizami District Prosecutor's Office has found no grounds for opening a criminal case in relation to N. Mamedov's death in the colony.

According to her story, after examination by ophthalmologist a serious injury of his eye was revealed. The defender is sure that it was a result of the blow inflicted by a policeman on the young man with the pistol handle.

Forty best students of the Chechen State University (ChSU) and Grozny State Oil Institute (GSOI) have left for studying at higher schools of Germany. This is already the second group of the Chechen students, who will be trained abroad. Earlier, about a hundred of them went to Germany and Great Britain.
