Environmentalists assess consequences of attack on Port Kavkaz
As a result of drone attack on Port of Kavkaz in the Krasnodar Territory, 30 fuel tanks sank, which poses a significant threat to the environment. Ombudsperson treats information about Dagestanis' rights violation at Smolensk colony as unreliable
The conducted check failed to reveal any violations of the rights of natives of Dagestan kept in the Smolensk Penal Colony No. 2, Zapir Alkhasov, the Degastani Ombudsperson has informed. There is only one prisoner from Dagestan kept there; and the colony has no dungeons (punishment cells).

Hostage-taking incident becomes second in Southern Federal District within less than three months
An incident with taking hostages by prisoners at the Surovikino penal colony was preceded by a similar incident that occurred in June at a SIZO (pre-trial prison) in Rostov-on-Don. In both cases, attackers declared themselves to be supporters of the “Islamic State”*.

Defence secures questioning of forensic expert in case on murder of 19-year-old Sultanov in Dagestan
A forensic expert, invited by the defence of the family of Magomed-Ali Sultanov, a murdered resident of Kayakent, called the forensic examination, conducted the investigator’s order, insufficient. According to the forensic expert’s version, at least three wounds were inflicted with a screwdriver. It was the fourth request after which the court agreed to question the expert brought in by the defence.

The rights of inmates from Dagestan are violated in the penal colony located in the Smolensk Region; some of them are kept in the dungeon (punishment cell), while others have cut their veins in protest, a source has reported. Verdict to Kuban resident for evading military service upheld
The appellate instance has upheld the verdict passed to Dmitry Martynenko, a resident of Kuban (Krasnodar Territory), who was sentenced to five years and three months in colony for unauthorized abandonment of his military unit. The expiration of the contract is not the basis for service termination, the judge has stated.
