The Nalchik Garrison Military Court sentenced serviceman Rustam Aflatov to five years in prison, finding him guilty of evading military service during mobilization.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on September 24, 2022, Parts 2.1, 3.1, and 5 of Article 337, concerning unauthorized abandonment of a unit or place of service during mobilization, were introduced into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The amendments provide for imprisonment for up to 10 years. Tighter legislation following the announcement of mobilization led to harsher sentences for absence from a military unit or desertion.

The Nalchik Garrison Military Court sentenced a Russian Army serviceman named Aflatov, finding him guilty of committing a crime under Part 5 of Article 337 of the Russian Criminal Code, the court's press service reported on VKontakte on April 18.

According to the court, Aflatov failed to report for duty at his military unit stationed in the Astrakhan Region on November 10, 2025. On January 28 of this year, he reported to the military commandant's office in Mozdok. Aflatov pleaded guilty in court. The court sentenced him to five years' imprisonment in a general regime penal colony.

The court's website lists the convicted man's name as Rustam Aflatov, and his case was submitted to the court on April 10.
