Rights defenders ask to pardon 22 Azerbaijani political prisoners

Experts predict no strengthening of IS in Northern Caucasus because of Turkish-Russian conflict

Three persons killed in Kabardino-Balkaria in shootout with law enforcers
In the Chegem District of Kabardino-Balkaria, law enforcers tried to stop a car for inspection. However, people opened fire from the car. The attackers were killed by return fire.

Officials of Ukrainian General Consulate want to visit Ukrainian citizen suspected of plotting terror acts and kept at Rostov IVS
The Ukrainian side has sent a request to the law enforcement bodies of Rostov-on-Don. Ukrainian officials want to visit at IVS (temporary detention facility) Arthur Panov, a 17-year-old citizen of Ukraine, who became involved in the criminal case of plotting a terror act.

In Azerbaijan, list of political prisoners expanded up to 93 people
In Azerbaijan, 93 political prisoners are still kept in custody. This was reported by the working group for drawing up a single list of political prisoners. Volgograd: tenants of collapsed house complain about officials' indifference and meager compensation
The "Caucasian Knot" has interviewed tenants of the multi-storey residential building collapsed in Volgograd. The people affected by the incident have claimed that officials force them to rewrite appeals, express negligent attitude to the demands of the victims and subject them to the red tape in the processing of the necessary certificates. The tenants are also not satisfied with the compensation in the amount of 30,000 roubles and the uncertainty concerning the compensation for housing.

According to evidence of Olga Vozyakova, a defence witness, Ukrainian aviator Nadezhda Savchenko was captured 1.5 hours prior to the opening of fire by the artillery of the armed forces of Ukraine. Prosecutors claim that the defendant was captured after the start of the shelling.

Today, the ecologist Evgeny Vitishko, released from colony-settlement No. 2 of the Department for the Tambov Region of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN), has arrived in Krasnodar. Two residents of Dagestan convicted for helping militants
The Kizlyar District Court has found two locals Aidemir Sharipov and Aslanbeg Tugailaev guilty of providing housing and transport means to participants of the armed underground, as well as of possession of weapons and drugs, and sentenced them to 5.5 and 4.5 years in prison, respectively.
