The human rights organization "Civil Rights Defenders" has called on the Russian authorities to immediately stop the prosecution of advocates Marina Dubrovina and Dokka Itslaev, who represented the interests of Stanislav Klykh and Nikolai Karpyuk at the trial in Grozny. Members of the "Civil Rights Defenders" believe that the prosecution of the advocates is aimed at punishing them for their activities to protect human rights.

In Dagestan, a man, suspected of involvement in the murder of two persons engaged in delivery of pensions, took refuge at the school of the village of Shamilkala. This was reported by local residents. According to them, they heard shots during the detention, and then law enforcers forced the suspect out of the school territory and drove him away.

In Dagestan, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) carried out in the village of Kvanada in the Tsumada District has become the second one held in the village in 2016. Earlier, when CTO legal regime had been introduced in the village, Magomed Abdulkhalikov was killed there. Law enforcers treated him as the leader of the "Tsumada" militant grouping.

According to updated information, one of the suspects killed in the Dagestani village of Stalskoe was a member of the "Khasavyurt" militant grouping, and the second suspect was an accomplice of the militants. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has disseminated pictures of the car driven by the killed suspects and shelled by law enforcers.

Two suspects killed in a special operation in the village Kvanada of the Tsumada District were members of a local militant grouping. They went into hiding in 2014, but took refuge in one of the rural houses, report law enforcers.

Talekh Bagirzade, the leader of the movement "Muslim Unity", Abbas Guseinov, another defendant in the "Nardaran case", have complained to the court that physicians had refused to register bodily harm inflicted to them by warders of the SIZO (pre-trial prison). Out of five policemen questioned as witnesses, four failed to confirm involvement of the defendants in the riots.

It is proposed to reduce funding for the state programme of development of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) in 2017 to 13.7 billion roubles, while the amount of 31.8 billion roubles was initially allocated. According to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the focus is on attraction of private investment to the NCFD.

12 projects on organization of volunteer movement and care for children with disabilities, orphans and people diagnosed with cancer won the regional stage of the award of the "Committee of Civil Initiatives" in Kabardino-Balkaria. In Sochi, the City Mayor has met people affected by the fire and stated that until October 24, the developer is to respond to appeals filed by tenants of the house destroyed by the fire in Tsyurupa Street, who demanded to pay them financial compensation or provide them with equivalent housing.

The defendant, his defence, and parents claim false conclusions of the investigation, and members of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) reports on violation of the defendant's rights to qualified medical care.

In Armenia, some farmers have not yet got the money for grapes delivered past year to processing enterprises. Low harvest has caused additional damage to workers of the sphere. The Sukhumi Court has sentenced Vladimir Trifonov to three years and five months in a colony-settlement and a fine of 30,000 roubles for the imputed damage caused to the Abkhazian mobile operator. According to his advocate, the convict will be released from custody on October 25; and he is not going to appeal against the verdict.
