EcoWatch activists and Dozhd journalist released after detention near Gelendzhik

Two activists of the "Ecological Watch for North Caucasus" (EcoWatch) and a journalist of the "Dozhd" (Rain) TV Channel "Rain" were taken to the police station after being kept for five hours by employees of a private security company near the city of Gelendzhik. Ecologist reports on theft of Ramzan Kadyrov's sheep

Valery Brinikh, the chairman of the All-Russian Society for Protection of Environment, has filed to the police a complaint with a request to verify the information stating that some sheep sent to Adygea by the order of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov for Eid al-Adha were not allocated to the poor. According to the ecologist, who also sent an appeal to Ramzan Kadyrov, the sheep were stolen by local officials.
