In the case against Khasan Zakaev, a native of Chechnya, accused of involvement in the seizure of the Dubrovka Theatre in 2002, the victim party will file civil claims for compensation for damage. Today, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has handed down two decisions on the claims submitted by 16 relatives of the Chechen residents, one of whom was killed by power agents and others went missing. The total compensation amount made 1.129 million euros, says the today's statement posted on the website of the "Legal Initiative".

Igor Vasiliev, the leader of the Sochi branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), has sent an appeal to the Russian Supreme Court against the decision of the Krasnodar Territorial Court, which refused to cancel the State Duma election outcome at the single-mandate constituency No. 50. Vasiliev asks to cancel the decision and satisfy his claim, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

In 2002, Khasan Zakaev with militants intended to capture not the Dubrovka Theatrical Centre, but the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, the prosecutor said in court. Zakaev has confessed of transporting the firearms only, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports from the courtroom.

The court has ignored the arguments of his advocate, who asserted that most of his client's teeth had been knocked out.
